How do I buy an affordable solar panel system for my home?

when you find out, let me know. no but seriously, they are expensive because they will pay for themselves in a while, so its like spending a lot more up front, but getting much more back than any of your neighbors will ever see.

Well… right now that is pretty elusive. In free markets the price you pay is the price the majority of the buyers is willing to pay. $4-$5/W is that price. Production costs seem to hover around $2.50/W or up, although a few players claim they can make panels for $1/W. But I wouldn't expect to see prices that low for a couple more years (or more!) because the market can bear higher prices.

I hate to sound like a commercial but I found a company that provides you with the components and you pay for the service… similar to the current electric companies but with a cheaper rate. Check it out

cost about 20 bucks for a small low amp to 10 grand for the monster panels with motorised sun chasers

I give a thumbs up to "amansscientiae" Even if it is not a correct answer it is something that people don't seem to under stand. "Fair Market Value" This means the price of solar will never go down just like anything else. If you can make it for 2 cents but it sells everywhere for 1000 dollars you have the right to sell it for that much.

I have tried to explain this to many people but they are holding out for some great deal that will never come. Evergreen makes solar modules cheaper then anyone in the world but their prices are the same as everyone else. But why not. It would take a STUPID person to knownly under value their own product.

All you can do is understand you are buying 30 years of power and paying up front. Which saves you a lot of money. I have said this hundreds of times. If you pay 100 a month that is 36000 over thirty years. A system installed is about that much. Plus there is no fuel increases or tax increases or cost of living increases on the power your make your self. You could save as much as 70,000 over 30 years time because of not paying the increases and extra taxes.
