Solar Power Information
Passive Heat this is as basic as drying your clothes outside. Zero energy? Not necessarilly, but sustainability at almost no cost to future resources. This has my vote, Go Arizona.

Passive Heat
Passive Heat this is heat produced from convection, radiation or conduction. The driving force is the sun. For people who don't know what this is think of a sunburn. Not very pleasant but this example is the best to get the point across.
Your summer day or winter day for those in cool snowy climates starts out great! The sun is out and lathers of sunblock coat your skin. For some the day is warm others it may be chilly but the point is you recieve radiant heat making your skin warm. I know you get some radiation and other things but stick with me here.
During your day you are exposed to mainly radiant heat. Unless it is summer and you are out in shorts walking on concrete, sand or asphalt all day convection heat has little impact on the temperature outside. However, your feet may think differently. The warming expierenced on the soles of your feet is a prime example of conduction.
Convection, the method of heat transfered by the flow of air. Is exemplified by the hot blast of air coming up from that black asphalt. All of these methods are forms of passive heat, or heat that is produced from environmental conditions. I.E. not explicitly produced for the production of heat.

Solar energy is not only about installing solar panels and complex solar home energy systems it is about increasing the energy efficiency of your home and maximizing the use of solar energy with what is called passive solar design. Passive solar design means, designing a new house or remodeling an old one to maximize the use of sunlight for heating, cooling and lighting applications. There are a number of advantages to adding solar power to your home. This can be with solar panels and passive solar design but it is not something that should be taken lightly.

Combine ideas that reduce energy consumption with passive solar energy ideas. There is a middle ground to be met with instant domestic hot water heating and solar water heaters. You can use a solar water heater to preheat, retain and deliver temperate water to your on-demand hot water heater. Thereby reducing the size of your solar panel system.
