Passive Heat this is heat produced from convection, radiation or conduction. The driving force is the sun. For people who don't know what this is think of a black top parking lot. In the middle of August or January (depending on where you live) the heat coming from the surface is radiant heat.

The warming expierenced on the soles of your feet is a prime example of conduction.
